Gods’ unseen presence comforts me, I know he is always near; And when life’s storms besiege my soul, he says, my child, I’m here. – D De Haan

When Jesus sent his disciples out he gave them this promise: “I am with you always even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). When we speak of “always” actually meaning “all the days,” according to the Greek scholars.

We read that Jesus didn’t simply say, “always”, but “all the days.” That considers all our various activities, the good and bad circumstances surrounding us, the varied responsibilities, we have through the course of our days, through the storm clouds and in the sunshine.

No matter what each day brings, the Lord is present with us. It may be a day of joy or of sadness, of sickness or health, success or failure. No matter what happens to us, he is with us. He walks beside us and goes before us. He strengthens us, loves us so much, and fills us up with faith and hope. God’s love overtakes all fear; he quietens our spirit and gives us peace. We can bear up in any setting and circumstance because we know the Lord is at hand, just as he told Paul in Act 18:10, “I am with you.”

Let us practice God’s presence, stopping in the midst of your busy day and say to yourself, the Lord is with me, I will not fear.

Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near. Isaiah 55:6
