Reformation 500 – Some South African perspectives
- Look inside
On six continents, during 2017, the five hundredth anniversary of the Reformation will be celebrated. When Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg, he set a process in motion that would deeply influence the Christian community for centuries to come. In this very timely publication a number of scholars and church leaders reflect on the impact of the Reformation on South Africa – not only on the churches and on ecumenical relations, but on the influence of the Reformation in the wider community, in education as well as in politics.
Authors from a wide range of traditions contributed to the book, not only from the Reformed and Lutheran traditions, but from many other churches including the Roman Catholic Church, the Pentecostal community as well as the African Instituted Churches. Reformation 500 – Some South African Perspectives is an important publication that should be read and discussed, not only during 2017, but for years to come.
