The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives. Life begins with God’s breath. – Albert Schweitzer
When God sparks a dry and hopeless heart, new life occurs. God wants to spark the dying embers of our lives. He wants to renew our passion and love for him and others. He wants to bring dry bones back to life again.
The spiritual condition of the people is portrayed with an unusual and vivid picture of dry bones. Ezekiel is commanded to preach to the bones and something extraordinary occurs. A miracle of new life sprouts. Gods’ people are revived and standing before Ezekiel is a great army!
We need dry bones to live again! Reviving of the dry bones signifies restoration. People saw no hope of ever being resurrected, but God said to them, their dry bones would live again!
The hand of the Lord came upon Ezekiel – position yourself to allow the hand of the Lord to come upon you. Hunger for more of God. Resist the distractions of life that try and grab you. Be open to change.
Ezekiel saw the situation was plainly and desperately hopeless. But in faith he recognized that nothing is hopeless with God. Maybe there is some area of your life that you would describe as being a valley of dry bones. Our lives are too often filled with examples of dryness, wastelands of addiction, feeling empty and powerless. Won’t you allow God to breathe on your life?
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: Is there anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27
